About the Event

Here, Jack focuses on the Spanish presidios here on her northern frontier, which had the job of securing the frontier and protecting its residents from hostile Indians. Southern Arizona had four presidios, at Tubac, Tucson, Terrenate de Santa Cruz, and San Bernardino.  How long were they here, were they effective, how did the royal policies concerning the presidios change over time, and what was it like for the soldiers in the presidios?  It’s a fascinating story, and Jack tells it all.  You will feel like you were there.
