VOLUNTEER

The Tubac Presidio State Historic Park and Museum is run almost exclusively by volunteers! Volunteers are the heart and soul of the park and are essential to keeping the park running smoothly. Volunteers will also be able to learn new skills, make new connections, and work on exciting projects! At The Tubac Presidio State Historic Park there are a variety of volunteer opportunities available. These roles may be seasonal, yearly, and even short-term for those who would like to partake in the exciting projects going on at the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park. We are always taking in new volunteers for every position!

Positions

Opener/Closer

Volunteers opening the park will make sure the park is ready for guests before 9:00 a.m. This includes walking the grounds, unlocking doors and gates, making sure lights are on and exhibit demonstrations are illuminated, and raising the flags at the entrance of the park! Closers will make sure the park is closed after 5:00 p.m. to ensure opening is as smooth as possible. This includes walking the grounds and locking doors and gates, making sure lights are off, taking down and folding flags, and closing out the cash register. Volunteers may opt for either position.

Front Desk/Gift Shop

Be our visitors' first great impression here at the Presidio! Volunteers will oversee the Front Desk and Gift Shop and will welcome our visitors! Front desk volunteers will greet visitors, answer questions regarding the Presidio and surrounding areas, ring up sales in the gift shop, organize merchandise, and answer phones.

Gardens

Learn gardening skills, gain knowledge about Arizona flora, and help set up new gardens with our amazing gardening volunteers! This role includes pruning, raking, harvesting crops from our gardens, composting, and fertilizing. Perfect for those who like having a more hands-on role and love to be outdoors!

Waterer

Help us maintain our beautiful plants and gardens at the Presidio by becoming a waterer! The waterer will come in and ensure that all plants are being watered. This role provides an excellent way to learn about native Arizona flora and is a great way to spend your time outdoors!

Maintenance

Help us keep the Presidio in excellent condition and gain a variety of skills as a maintenance volunteer! Maintenance volunteers will maintain park facilities and grounds, clean up debris, and even help create new and exciting things for our visitors to see. Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn how to use power tools, maintain a large multi-building State Park, and even occasionally help set up or create exhibits!

Educational Programs

Volunteer for a number of the educational programs here at the Presidio! Volunteers for this role can opt to be tour guides, be a part of a living history exhibit, help us gain a Dark Skies Designation and many more! We have many opportunities available for these roles on both a seasonal or short-term basis, so we are flexible!
