About the Event

This is the famous story of the Coronado Expedition in 1540, the earliest Spanish entry up into Arizona and New Mexico, that made not only Coronado, but also Cabeza de Vaca, Estabanico, and Marcos de Niza famous.  It is a story of the Spanish search for gold, for the Seven Cities of Cibola, Las Siete Ciudades de Oro (the Seven Cities of Gold), and of Cabeza de Vaca’s eight-year journey. Cabeza de Vaca been shipwrecked on the Florida coast in the Narváez expedition and his tales of that trip that prompted the Coronado expedition. 

Snacks will be served. $15 per lecture. Children 6 and under are free.  A portion of the proceeds supports our education and preservation programs. B.Y.O.C. – (bring your own chair or sit at one of our picnic tables) this lecture will take place outdoors in our large picnic area.   Admission to this lecture includes all day entrance into the park and the historic buildings.
